ACCESS STATEMENT

 

Introduction 
The Old Success Inn is a charming coastal Inn and Restaurant situated in the Cornish Village of Sennen Cove. The Inn has 12 rooms and 3 Self Catering Apartments. Andrew Milburn and the Team look forward to giving you a warm, Cornish welcome. 
 

Pre-Arrival
The unique nature and shape of the Old Success, incorporating its multi-levels and terrace areas, does not easily lend itself to those with mobility problems. Although the physical structure of the hotel cannot be changed for guests with disabilities wherever possible we will endeavour to assist where we can.
 
Where we are: 
The Old Success Inn is situated approx 10 miles from Penzance. The Inn has magnificent views over the Bay, and holds a perfect position to see over the only cape in Britain, Cape Cornwall. 

Main access routes:  Airport: Newquay / Train Station: Penzance / Road: A30.         Directions:  From the end of the M5 follow the A30 into Devon and Cornwall. Continue down the A30 to Penzance, then follow the signs to Lands End

Arrival & Car Parking Facilities
Private, off-road car park.
Staff can assist if needed ~ please call in advance to discuss your needs.
Drop-off point at the front door located within the car park.
Flat & well lit area.
Door bell at front door ~ please ring if assistance is needed.
Guide dogs and Service are allowed throughout.
Dogs are allowed in the self-catering apartments.

 
Main Entrance, Reception & Ticketing Area
Reception is located up the stairs above the front door area.
If you require any assistance please call the reception in advance of your arrival.
Lighting is adequate.
The counter height is 990mm.
DeafGard available on request at reception ~  DeafGard placed under pillow vibrates and alerts deaf and hard of hearing persons to fire emergency high intensity flashing strobe provides additional safeguard of visual emergency warning 
Additional audible warning for hearing companion. DeafGard offers clock and alarm clock facility DeafGard ensures full compliance with DDA DeafGard is perfect for hotels and other accommodation facilities presenting relevant risk to deaf people.
 


Public Areas - Hall, Stairs, Landing, Corridors etc
The corridors and stairs are adequately lit throughout & most have hand-rails.
One small step 150mm separates the room and gives access via a corridor to the WC's ~ unfortunately no disabled WC's currently on site.
 


Public Areas - Sitting room, lounges, lobbies etc
Public area ~ lounge area.  Wide access throughout.  Located on the first floor with magnificent views of the beach & the Bay.
Adequately lit throughout.  Large furniture (sofas) that can be moved on request ~ please ask staff for assistance.
One small step 150mm separates the room and gives access via a corridor to the WC's ~ unfortunately no disabled WC's currently on site.

 
Public WCs
WC's are located up stairs at the rear of the restaurant.  The stairs have hand rails and are adequately lit.
Also a Gents WC is located outside of the Hotel at the side of the car park area with a small step up and a narrow entrance.  
A second Ladies WC can be located at the rear of the Bar area.
Unfortunately at this time there are no Disabled WC's on the premises.  There are Disabled WC's located in the Sennen Cove Car Park with Baby Changing facilities.  These are open all year round.

 
Restaurant / Dining Room, Bar & Bar area, Take Away & Cafe
Restaurant Area:
Lighting is uniform & adequate throughout.  The aisles widths are wide. Tables and chairs can be moved to suit please ask staff for assistance. The floor in this area is wood throughout and on one level.
Steps up to the Restaurant from the Bar area or 3 small steps can be used for wider access directly from the car park.
The WC's are located upstairs at the rear of the Restaurant.  There are no Disabled WC's on the premises at this time.
Waitress service at your table.
Food allergies & special dietary requirements can be catered for - please call in advance to discuss your needs.
Lunch is served in the Bar from 12pm - 2pm. Dinner is served in the Bar from 6pm-9pm and 7pm-9pm in the Restaurant. 
Sunday Lunch is available in the Restaurant every week. 
Bar Area: Access can be found from the side door and it is flat from the car park. Although there is two steps down into the Bar area Staff are willing to serve Customers in the upper area.  Please ask any member of staff on your arrival they will be happy to help.

Outdoor Facilities
Picnic tables in the Car Park area offer sea views.  This area is flat tarmac with waitress service; it is well lit at all times of the day / evening.  Please call in advance if you have any special requirements.
Upper Sun Deck / Patio area.  Accessible only via steep steps with hand-rails.  Magnificent views of the beach & bay area.
WC's ~ Gents are located at the side of the Car Park area.  The Ladies are at the rear of the Bar area.

Bedrooms & Sleeping Areas 
8 Double en-suite rooms, 2 Twin Rooms, 1 Single Room (non-Ensuite) and 1 Family room. 
We also have Three Self Catering Apartments available.  
Please note that all rooms and apartments are non-smoking.    
We regret we cannot accept pets in our bedrooms, although well behaved dogs are welcome in the Self Catering Apartments. Description:  Light, Airy, Comfortable Rooms and Apartments in Prime Position next to the Beach. Please note that we have limited parking on site but there is a public car park nearby.  
A family room with a double bed and bunk beds is available.

Caravans, Holiday Homes & Twin Units
Apartments:
3 self catering apartments.
Located in one building separate from the Hotel in the corner of the car park area.
2 apartments are upstairs and 1 is on the ground floor.
Please see below the description for the ground floor apartment only. Any other details required please contact the Reception who will be happy to help:
Entrance to ground floor apartment ~  up one small step 100mm out of the car park.  Through one door 740mm wide door with small double glazed threshold.
The living room ~ open plan style with moveable furniture (double sofa bed).  Wood flooring in this area.  TV / DVD player with remote control.  Light switches are 1400mm from the floor.
Kitchen area ~ up 1 small step 100mm out of the living room area.  Built in cooker & fridge.  Counter top height is 915mm.
Door (735mm single leaf) through to corridor to bathroom & bedrooms ~ well lit ~ 890mm corridor width.
Bedroom 1 ~ Double bed with 735mm access around bed at minimum.  All on one level ~ built in wardrobe ~ wood floor ~ well lit ~ light switch height 1400mm.  Emergency call notice to raise the Manager of the Hotel is displayed.
Corridor to Bathroom & Bedroom 2 ~ up small step 100mm.  Cupboard in corridor which contains ~ Broom/dustpan & brush/Ironing board/Hoover etc.
Bathroom ~ 660mm small access single leaf door.  840mm sink height ~ 405mm WC height ~ 535mm height of side of bath/shower.  Well lit with wood floor.
Bedroom 2 ~ 660mm small access single leaf door. 2 single beds ~ built in wardrobe ~ 1400mm light switch ~ wood floor ~ well lit ~ bed side cabinet in-between beds at 610mm height.
